A funny thing happened on my way to the reception...
As most of you know, my husband and I have been very actively engaged in redoing our patio as an outdoor living area since the Memorial Day weekend. We've been busy and we are certainly making a huge amount of progress. But it is quite a lot of work. Yesterday found me seriously steeped in painting two 1950's lawn chairs and I had overspray, literally, up to my elbows. Sometime around 3 in the afternoon, I called my husband at his office. We discussed the project and all that I had accomplished and then I told him about the JoAnn's [40% off] coupon that I received in the mail. Of course I was burning to go pick out the fabric for the dining chairs! It was then that he reminded me of the artists' reception that we were to attend at a gallery at 6pm. Like I said, I was up to my elbows in overspray and my hands had taken on a moldy-looking green cast. I have a sensitivity to certain chemicals and turpenoid is among them. Usually, when I'm splotched with oil-based paint or enamel, I just wash as much of it away as possible and it is completely gone in a couple of days. I couldn't allow myself to attend a reception with green hands - OMG. But I found the perfect cover up in a pair of vintage opera gloves. And what a perfect occassion to wear them! :ROTFL: As it was, the entire look was well received and I got more than several compliments on the outfit overall. So here you have it, my "I've been working like a dog but I can't miss this opportunity to show my good will and support of your artwork" ensemble.
